Last week I announced the tragic news that Polk Street’s sweetest design shop Swallowtail is closing after 14 years. I was hoping the shop might hold a liquidation sale of some sort and pass on its stunning inventory to my living room. But a little birdie tells me that the shop’s fantastic inventory has all been cleared out. Tear! Rumor has it shop owner Sheri Sheridan will be taking all her goodies to a warehouse in the East Bay. I suspect she’ll try to sell it off at an online auction house like 1st Dibs, in which case it certainly won’t be a steal. If you’re already yearning for Swallowtail’s smart design style, make a stop by Bar Johnny, which was also designed by Sheridan.
I’m curious to see what smart business owner scoops up 2217 Polk next. The space has really beautiful wooden skylights and a quaint little garden in the back, so there’s a lot to work with.
