Cool party alert! First of all, Fisherman’s Wharf/Ghirardelli Square is in a territory of its own. But since it’s so close by, I’m happy to turn you onto the big and small events happening there (see examples here and here). The latest: the 1st Annual Wax and Wine Festival. This Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m., Tahoe’s Alpine Meadows and Homewood Mountain have teamed up with Russian Hill’s go-to location for winter gear Lombardi Sports for an evening of free ski and snowboard hot waxes and $5 glasses of wine, courtesy of Sonoma’s Wattle Creek Winery. Just so you know, a ski wax at Lombardi on any other day can run you anywhere between $10-$15, depending on whether you’re a reward card member.
If your skis aren’t wantin’ for a waxin’, or you don’t own any, there are still some perks for you.
For one, you can purchase Alpine Meadows Ski Resort 09/10 season passes at the event at an exclusive reduced rate. There’ll also be raffle prizes including an Alpine Meadows season pass, a $150 Ghirardelli Square Gift Card, and a pair of Fischer Watea 114 skis. And goodie bags for everyone! It’s like a grade school b-day party — with wine-stained teeth.
