I’m always sad when I bike down Polk and see throngs of people eating at all these unhealthy cafes and restaurants.

I personally think its silly to designate it as a historical landmark. Its just a building. Crunch should be allowed to completely renovate the building. Right now there is so much wasted space because they are not allowed to change anything. This could be such an incredible place if it were rennovated similar to for example the San Mateo Crunch.

If some architecture buffs want to save the embellishments and ornamentation, let them. But I think its silly to not allow it to be renovated.

Hi! I’ve found that this place has incredible green tea… I’m going to suggest that they focus on that so they don’t get buried in the fray of all the other yummy coffee spots on Polk. I worry about them down there at the end of the street! Having the word out that people can buy good green tea from them may attract customers from further away.

That’s a tough stretch of Polk Street for any business to be successful. Anything north of Union is dicey. The “action” is south of Union and a lot of “chain” operations probably don’t realize that. Leopold’s is right on the edge and surviving becuase it’s run by locals who have a following. Those folks aren’t heading north after dinner, they’re going south.

Buchanan is mis-spelled as Buchannan somewhere. My favorite shot was of the corner of Bush & Buchanan in 1992 when they ran against each other for the Republican nomination. Bush won, of course, but as a sitting President was then defeated by Clinton.

San Francisco needs weather that doesn’t suck ass. Only then will we want more sidewalk seating. No, the weather here is not “moderate.” It’s fricken cold except for 2 weeks in October when we finally get a summer — and everyone seems to forget the runny noses and shivering hands the other 11 months and 2 weeks of the year.

The weather in SF blows, and people are delusional about it.
