As any diligent Polk Street enthusiast should do, this weekend I ventured to the new Kozy Kar Bar (1548 Polk at Sacramento) . . . twice. Wait! I rescind: thrice. In addition to two evening stints, the owner gave my friends and I a daytime tour before the place opened. The reason I’m just getting around to writing about Kozy Kar now is that it took me a several days to recover. For now I’ll refrain from editorializing and simply list some of the new dive’s attributes:
– A street sign made of Lite-Brites
– Waterbeds
– Shag carpet
– A pedophile-esque ’70s van as seating
– Floors and a bar top lacquered with ’70s Playboy pin-ups
– Boxed wine “red or white” — enough said
– Cheap canned beer (PBR, Schlitz, Hamm’s, Olympia), all $3
– CB radios for inter-booth conversation
– A flat screen playing Boogie Nights
In short, it’s a theme bar. But it’s a good for a laugh, and it’s photogenic in an über cheesy, my-boss-can’t-see-these-photos kind of way.
But wait let’s play a game! Guess how many augmented breasts are in the photo of the bar’s lacquered floor after the jump! NSFW. (more…)
