If you’re willing to venture to lower Polk tomorrow night, the fifth annual Three Thirty Three Under the Tree festival will be livening up Kimo’s (1351 Polk) with eight local bands, including 333, Room For A Ghost, Entropy Density, Cuban Cigar Crisis, Old And Gray, Burnt Thumbs, Megan Romero, and Tell The Truth. The Polk Street Blues Festival is coming to “Upper Polk” between Pacific and Union Streets on September 25th and 26th 2010! [I know, I know, you wanted to take it easy that month.] The only free blues event in the city, the fest will “feature two main stages, a merchant market place, arts and crafts, gourmet food booths, a large family area, cafĂ© seating areas and much more.” Considering that nearly every other neighborhood has a festival during the year, this is kind of exciting. A record player has been on my wish list for sometime, but now with ten records looming in my apartment, the race is on. Until then, I guess the crowd at Encore Karaoke will have to suffer through me singing “Something to Talk About” to help fill the void. If anyone has any leads on an affordable record player in the ‘hood, let me know!
